Alert Modifications: Permanent, Bidirectional Thresholds
With regards to alerts:
1) I think it would be useful to be able to choose a threshold price point for an alert that sends the user a notification whenever it is crossed, whether the exchange rate is increasing or decreasing at the time.
2) I think it would be useful to have the notification from the alert indicate whether the price was, in fact, increasing above that threshold value or decreasing below that threshold value when the threshold value was crossed.
3) I think it would be helpful if the alert itself is not cleared after the price is reached (again, whether the price is increasing or decreasing at the time).
Note: It is possible that these points could be treated as separate ideas and implemented separately as a result.
As an example, I could pick the BTC/USD exchange rates and set alerts at 450, 475, 500, 525, 550 USD, etc. If the exchange rate started at 480 and then dropped to 460, I would get a notification saying "The value has now decreased to below your threshold of 475 USD." If the exchange rate then continued to decrease to 445 USD, I would get another notification saying "The value has now decreased to below your threshold of 450 USD." If the value then increased very quickly to 530 USD, I would get a set of notifications (or one unified notification) indicating the value increased to above the thresholds of 450, 475, 500, and 525 USD. Importantly, though the thresholds of 450 and 475 USDs had already been crossed (when the exchange rate was heading in the opposite direction) their alerts were not cleared and were still in place to notify me that the price was moving back in the other direction without any further intervention on my part.
This scheme would allow individuals to obtain real-time updates on the exchange rates without having to continuously reset their alerts. It would also help to provide information in situations where there are quick reversals. You may even be able to program preset alerts, for instance at multiples of 20 USD or 10 USD, so that users don't have to spend time manually entering a whole set of values if they simply want regular updates on when exchange rates are shifting and by how much.
I apologize for the lengthy description, but thank you in advance for your time in considering these suggestions. If there is anything that is unclear in the above, please feel free to reply to this post and I will do my best to respond.
